Caterham surprised Tokyo with the announcement that it will build its first electric sports car. The battery bullet will be either a full electric car or a hybrid and it'll be campaigned in a one-make series in 2011. 'It'll either be a bought-in full electric power pack or we'll buy in an electric hybrid pack and attach it to an existing Caterham engine,' Caterham CEO Ansar Ali told CAR.

Seat has unveiled the hot hatch and green eco warrior of the Ibiza range. The sinner is the Ibiza Cupra, the saint the Ibiza Ecomotive – and they arrive less than six months since the range was launched.Seat Ibiza Cupra: the lowdownThe Ibiza Cupra has a 176bhp 1.4 TSI twin-compressor engine; it's the same turbo- and supercharged engine as in our long-term test VW Golf, mated to the VW Group's seven-speed DSG twin-clutch 'box operated through steering wheel paddles. No performance claims yet, but that power output should put it on a par with the Mini Cooper S.
The exterior phase of the CDN-GM Interactive Design competition closed on the November 7th, with over 150 entries from design students based in the USA and Canada, making it our most popular interactive competition phase so far. After the press days of the recent LA Auto Show, judges and mentors from GM, along with our competition partners Dassault Systèmes, Faurecia and SRG Global, gathered at GM's North Hollywood advanced design studio to pick the finalists. Those chosen will be invited to attend the 2012 NAIAS in Detroit, along with finalists from the interiors phase, and on the second press day, interiors and exterior winners will be announced for each brand.
